💜 Sunday Reset: Pour into Yourself Before You Pour into Others

ree

Hey boo hey — it’s Sunday, and you already know what that means. It’s time to refocus, reset, and pour into ourselves.

Sundays are the days I choose to be a little selfish — to do things that benefit me, help me recharge, and prepare me to be my best self.

I started the morning with quiet relaxation and planning my week.

Then, I decided to treat myself to a 90-minute therapeutic massage — and let me tell you, I needed that.

That massage reminded me that even my body holds the weight of leadership, and sometimes it just needs intentional care.

Tomorrow, I start a new contract as a travel ADON, and I wanted to walk in relaxed and centered because I already know what comes with the role.

If the ADON role isn’t clearly defined, you can easily find yourself putting out every fire and handling every last-minute issue. I’m only here for four weeks before heading back up north, so I’m intentional about how I show up — calm, balanced, and ready.

To top it off, I’m in my luteal phase, which means I’ve been feeling the cravings, mood changes, and energy dips. And if you’re wondering why I’m mentioning this, it’s because leadership starts with self-awareness — and that includes understanding your body.

I want to stay on top of my health and habits, so I created a weekly plan filled with healthier food choices — more fruits, veggies, and hydration — and a consistent exercise routine.

As leaders, we often ask everyone else how they’re doing — but how often do we check in with ourselves?

This assignment starts a little later in the morning, which gives me extra time for a nourishing breakfast and a peaceful workout before the day begins.

The time change yesterday was also a blessing — all of my prayers will be completed by 7 p.m., which means more time in the evening to unwind.

I love ending my night with a good read and a warm cup of ginger tea before bed. It’s my quiet way to reset, reflect, and prepare for tomorrow.

Every new contract reminds me that growth isn’t always about change — sometimes it’s about doing what you love, even better than before.

So, you see — my week never really changes. The secret is consistency, because planning and preparation always produce positive outcomes.

💜 Today, take this as your sign to plan your week — but more importantly, plan your time.

Ask yourself:

👉🏽 How will I invest in myself first?

👉🏽 How can I show up for me the same way I show up for everyone else?

Don’t expect the best from others if you don’t expect the best from yourself.

Lead with love,

YourFavNurseLeader,

Bilquis Ali
