As a leader, it is important that you step away from the world and live in the world that only you and others like you can understand and relate to.
Last week I drove to Jacksonville, Florida for the NADONA Conference ā representing Pennsylvania loud and proud. PA in the building!Ā š
But seriously, it was exactly what I needed: powerful information, rich conversations, and connections that fed my purpose.
What really made it even more impactful? Multiple leaders came up to me and said:
āI watch your YouTube videos.ā Iāve purchased your products.ā Youāve helped me more than you know.ā
Let me tell you ā that hit me hard, in the BEST way. Because there are days where I wonder if Iām really making a difference. But I show up anyway.
And Iāll keep showing up ā because I want to be that support for nurse leaders and the inspiration to remind you: you CAN do this.
1ļøā£ Your Community Matters. Period.
Whether youāre new to leadership or deep in the game ā community will keep you elevated.
This week, I didnāt just network. I connected. I met an incredible new member who became my conference ride-or-die. I reunited with students, mentors, and powerful nurse leaders who are all pushing the same mission: elevate care and lead with heart.
2ļøā£ You Never Know Everything ā And Thatās Okay
This conference reminded me that even as a seasoned leader, thereās always more to learn.
Between breakout sessions, peer conversations, and industry updates ā I soaked in new strategies, perspectives, and ways to lead with more intention.
True leadership means staying teachable. You donāt have to know it all ā but you do have to stay committed to growth. Thatās how you evolve andĀ empower the next generation of DONs.
3ļøā£ Leadership Is What You Do When Itās Not Convenient
Plot twist? State walked into one of my studentās facilities while he was at the conference.
And I was able to support him during that process ā step by step.
Thatās what leadership looks like ā being present, being a guide, and standing in your purpose even when youāre away from the building.
I don't just train DONs ā I stand beside them, even when the heat turns up.
From walking with the flag as PA President of PennDONA to bonding with new nurse leaders and being present for my mentees in real time ā this trip reminded me of one thing:
āYour name is being spoken in rooms you havenāt walked into yet. Keep showing up.ā

Good morning from sunny Florida!
There have been so many moments when I questioned whether what I was doing really matteredāwhether it was making any impact at all. And honestly, if I sat with those thoughts too long, Iād end up in a full-blown rabbit hole š¤·š¾āāļø.
