5 Steps to Reset When You Feel Overwhelmed

Hey boo hey,

I saw a post recently where someone shared that they were just over it—at their wit’s end. I get it.

There have been days (and let’s be real, there still are) when I’ve felt completely defeated. Felt like giving up. We’re human, and it happens.

But before you throw in the towel, here’s what I want you to do:

1. Breathe.

Take a deep breath. Inhale slowly and then exhale even slower. Sometimes, it’s that simple reminder to pause that can ground you.

In my office, I have five small blocks that sit on my windowsill. They say:

  • Be Kind

  • Be Brave

  • Inhale

  • Exhale

  • You Got This

I look at those blocks every time I feel overwhelmed. They remind me to reset, even on the tough days.

2. Prioritize What Truly Matters.

Some days are great, and some… not so great. And that’s okay. When I feel like I’m drowning, I ask myself: What truly matters right now?

Here’s the answer: Me. Above anyone or anything else.

Once I focus on myself—my well-being, my needs—I’m able to move on to the next thing.

3. Celebrate the Small Wins.

We work so hard to achieve goals, but sometimes we forget to celebrate the small strides along the way. Those small wins? They’re proof of your progress. Stop and acknowledge them. You’ve earned it.

4. Ask for Help.

This one was hard for me to learn. As a single mother, I got used to doing everything myself. Asking for help didn’t feel like an option. But here’s what I’ve learned: Asking for help doesn’t make you weak; it makes you wise. It’s also an incredible way to practice delegation.

So now, when I need help, I ask for it—without hesitation.

5. Give Yourself Grace.

You’re doing a great job. You’re doing the best you can with what you have, right now, in this moment.

Remember that.

If you’re feeling defeated today, know that you’re not alone. You’ve got this. You are capable, resilient, and deserving of all the grace you can give yourself.

Sending love and strength your way. 🖤✨
